The discipline of dentistry that deals with the dental pulp and tissues that surround a tooth's roots is known as endodontics. The Greek words "endo" and "odont" mean "inside" and "tooth," respectively. The delicate pulp tissue inside the tooth is treated by endodontic treatment, often known as root canal treatment. A dentist who specialises in tooth preservation is known as an endodontist. One of the most prevalent procedures is endodontic treatment. Endodontic treatment is required if the dental pulp (which contains nerves, arterioles, venules, lymphatic tissue, and fibrous tissue) becomes infected or injured.
