Title:Bio functional aesthetics creating the combination between function, aesthetics for long term success

Keynote Lecture

Abstract

In daily practice, clinician's frequently encounter chipped teeth, breakage of dentition, muscle pain, and dysfunction of the Temporal mandibular joints.  In addition to clinical signs of malocclusion, patients may complain of a myriad of physical symptoms such as headaches, neck aches, fatigue and general discomfort in the mouth.Very often the reason for the above conditions is over-stress of the masticatory muscles and or malocclusion.  Teeth wear is related to age or bad habits and faulty dental treatments which may cause masticatory problems and may be the reason for problems in the masticatory muscles.A dedicated novel device is the Koise Deprogrammer.  It can be used to diagnose the patients pathological occlusion and help to define the correct position of the jaws. Then, a proper occlusal provisional restoration is prepared in order to correct the position of the jaw to centric relation. Following the initial treatment, the patient is evaluated for the signs of occlusal wear and breakage on the provisional restoration and the resolution of original physical symptoms.  At this time, additional dental treatments such as endodontic, periodontic and prosthodontic procedures can be preformed.  After completion of initial follow-up the provisional restoration is replaced with a permanent restoration.  The lecture will focus on presentation of complicated clinical cases, new methods and techniques will be presented to help in the management of such cases. Learning Points will include malocclusion and bad dental habits that may cause pain and dysfunction to the masticatory apparatus.  Precise and proper management of such cases may reduce symptoms and restore aesthetics and masticatory function to the dental patient suffering from malocclusion.
